Whatever the celebration or function, whether it’s a wedding reception, office function, birthday party or social club outing, the Southern Comfort is an excellent venue and experience, all rolled into one.

Availability for private hire
Our day time public sailings run at 10.30am, 1pm, and 3pm therefore during our high season, mid week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) we can accept private hire bookings from 5.30pm onward.
On Mondays and Fridays during high season we may be able to accept an earlier private hire booking provided that only one public sailing is effected. On Saturdays and Sundays there is greater availability for private hire.
During our low season the public sailings run at the same times but are subject to demand and therefore there is greater flexibility for private hire bookings on all days and evenings of the week. Please be advised that private hire bookings are subject to availability and hire charges vary throughout the season, early booking is advised.
Private Hire Options
We offer a choice of menu and music, however the hirer is welcome to provide their own if they wish to at no extra charge. There’s a wide range of beers, wines and spirits at reasonable prices and teas and coffees are always available therefore we do ask that the hirer uses our bar for all drinks.
Please note the bar onboard is cash only, please ensure you come prepared, thank you. Cash can be withdrawn from Tidings Newsagents and Post Office in Horning. The Post Office opening times are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturdays 9am to 4pm and closed on Sundays.
Prices in the table below are to hire the boat for your exclusive use. There is a minimum of 20 guests required for a private booking and a maximum of 100 guests. The maximum number is subject to event requirements and time of year, we may advise less.
A deposit of 50% of boat hire is required and is non-refundable. However if cancelled within the year of sailing then we can re-book. There is a 3 hours minimum hire that applies to Friday and Saturday evenings. Evening is considered to be from 5.30pm. Please be advised we have to be back at our mooring by 11pm.

Live Music
We offer a choice of music or alternatively, the hirer is welcome to provide their own at no extra charge. The most popular choices are:
3 Piece Jazz Band
The Broads Chords are professional musicians with many years of experience. They have a wide repertoire of Jazz pieces and have been playing on board the Southern Comfort for around 40 years.
£370 minimum charge (or for 3 hours) and £450 for 4 hours.
Play your own music over our PA system
This could be via mobile phone, tablet or laptop. Connection can be made via Bluetooth or AUX lead or you can bring along some CD’s.
Please note that the volume level is limited.
Peter Turrell – Classical Guitarist
Peter Turrell is a classical guitarist based in Norwich. He plays music from Spain and South America, as well as baroque music. Peter also joins us on some of our Sunset Cruises so if you have visited us on one these sailings you may have seen and heard Peter before.
£250 minimum charge (or for 3 hours) or £310 for 4 hours.
