General Information & Booking

Our mooring is located in Horning on the Norfolk Broads, near The Swan Inn.

Address: Lower Street, Horning, Norfolk, NR12 8AA.

We do not have an office at our mooring, but you can call our office on 01692 630262.

While you can pay on arrival if spaces are available, advance booking is strongly recommended to reserve your space on board. You can book via this website or by calling the office on 01692 630262.

You reserve a space on board when you book, but your specific seating is selected by yourself once you are on board from what is available.

Yes, there is plush lounge seating inside on the lower deck with some outside seating at the front of the vessel. On the upper deck there is inside seating and outside seating also. In the inside seating areas windows run down both sides of the vessel on both decks.

For our Public River Trips and Sunset Cruises prices are:

  • Adult: £12
  • Child (2–17 years): £9  
  • Family Ticket (2 Adults & 2 Children): £36  
  • Dog: £2

We accept cash and cards both online and at boarding.
Please note that we are unable to accept American Express.

Yes, the Southern Comfort is wheelchair accessible via a ramp, which is approximately 29 inches wide. The lower deck is wheelchair accessible, whilst the upper deck has two staircases with handrail leading to it.  As a general guide we advise that the vessel can accommodate standard wheelchairs or wheelchairs of a similar size. We can accommodate a maximum of 5 wheelchairs per sailing.

Please advise us at booking if you have a wheelchair so we can manage capacity safely. If booking online, please ensure you select the wheelchair ticket, used for tracking wheelchair capacity and your applicable fare paying ticket, either an adult ticket, child ticket or family ticket, thank you.

Unfortunately, due to our limited capacity we are unable to offer a concession rate for carers.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome! There is a £2 fee per dog, and a limit of 5 dogs per sailing. Dogs must remain on the floor, on a lead, and under control at all times.  Please notify us when booking if you are bringing a dog. Guide / assistance dogs are free of charge.

Please note: Dogs are not permitted on special themed cruises or private hires that exceed 2 hours, with the exception of guide / assistance dogs.

Yes we do, souvenirs such as mugs, tea towels, key rings and pens can be purchased from our on board bar.

Yes, the lower deck features our fully stocked, licensed bar serving a wide range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, freshly made tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks, such as crisps, biscuits etc..

We would be very grateful if food / picnics were consumed either prior to or after your trip with us. We do not have many tables on board and with potential guest numbers it would be difficult to manage if all brought food on board, thank you.

There are lovely picnic spots on the greens in Horning, and snacks can be purchased from our on board bar such as crisps, biscuits etc..

Yes we have two toilets on board located on the lower deck. Our toilets are not classified as accessible toilets, they are small galley toilets. However in Horning there are accessible toilets located by the public car park near our mooring and are accessed by a RADAR key.

The nearest parking to us is the public pay and display car park opposite our mooring, it is called the Swan Inn public car park. you can pay to park using cash , card and a parking app.

There is also parking in the village of Horning and by the village hall which is about a 5 minute walk from us.

Horning and the surrounding areas are very busy during the summer months, please allow yourselves extra journey and parking time.

There are a few designated parking spaces located directly on Lower Street in Horning. The nearest ones to the Southern Comfort are located in the public pay and display car park.

As the pay and display car park is privately managed blue badge holders are still charged a parking fee.

Sailings & Routes

Our season runs from March to November.
During May to September, we aim to run our full timetable (subject to our private hires). 

For March, April, October, & November we run a reduced timetable so please do check online or call ahead before visiting.  From June to August, we add our evening sunset cruises to our timetable.

Throughout our operating season we also run our ticketed events such as our popular Summer Jazz Cruises please check our news page for all events.

Public River Trips (1.5 hours): Travel down the River Bure through Horning village, out to Malthouse Broad (Ranworth).

Sunset Cruises (2 hours): Special evening cruises run on some Tuesday and Thursday evenings during June, July, and August. These travel down the River Bure through Horning Village and on to St Benet’s Abbey.

Public River Trips: 10.30am, 1pm and 3pm.

Sunset Cruises: 7.30pm in June and July and 7pm in August.

Please note: The sailing schedule is subject to change if we have a private hire function on. Sailing departure times will be the same however we may not run a full schedule, so please do check sailings for the day you wish to visit us, thank you. 

Please be queueing at the Southern Comfort and ready to board 15 minutes before your departure time.

Every public river trip and sunset cruise features entertaining and informative live commentary from the skipper, highlighting the unique history of the area and pointing out local wildlife. On the return leg, relaxing music is played.
